The use of elbow is primarily to change the flow of direction. The DIN 2605-1 Elbow is used in oil and gas industries, oil refineries and in petrochemical industries. The Bend DIN 2605-1 can be replaced for elbows when the application requirement permits. The elbows could be of two major different angles, 45 degrees and 90 degrees. The elbows could also be of one of two major radius types; the short radius and the long radius. The short radius elbows are used in places where the space is narrow and the pressure is low. Difference between DIN 2605 Elbow type 2 and Type 3

The main difference is the radius. Elbows are pipe fittings that are used to connect two pipes together. They also change the direction of a pipeline at connection. There are short radius elbows and long radius elbows. The degree of change is usually 45 or 90 with custom elbows available as well. The type 2 elbow has a 1D radius, meaning, the radius of the elbow is 1 times the outer diameter of the pipe. The type 3 elbow has a radius that is 1.5 times the outer diameter of the pipe. These types are used in different flow rates. When the turn has to be smooth, extended radius of elbows is useful.
